Hi! I’m Harini, a children’s writer based in Bangalore.
Five years ago, my lifelong dream came true: I got a piece of farmland! Since then, my family and I have been working to green this rather barren bit of earth. It’s a slow process, but that’s what I love about it. In farming, you always take the long view, in terms of both space and time. That makes everything you do an act of hope, inspired by a vision of the future.
And so we learn, at tortoise-pace, about soil and water and trees and plants, from people around us, books and, most importantly, from the land itself. There are a few eureka moments in this learning, but mostly, it’s like absorbing water. So it seemed a great idea when a friend suggested (Thanks, Radha! Could have, but wouldn’t have, done it without you!) documenting our activities — both for us to see how far we’ve come, and for the benefit of those who might want to do the same. And this is it!
Happy reading and happy doing it yourself!

how beautiful, and important in its being dear Harini. Very happy to know about you, about this. Even though it might look enchanting, this work and life but by no means it is easy. It is harder but one of the most satisfying of works a human can take up with love and dedication. I hope to learn on this journey with you along.
Many Wishes

This is a great introduction to your blog. I’m looking forward to reading your posts. Sounds like you are moving at a tree’s pace – some years fast growing, some years slow, but always with feet planted deep in the land.
