A field of beans: haiku

Here once was a road,

Now a field of avare –

Fallen milky way.

A year ago, access to our farm was blocked by a villager who decided to plough up the road and plant it with beans. Now that field is blooming, and I have been thinking of the famous haiku by Mizuta Masahide:

“Barn’s burnt down — now I can see the moon.”
